OVERVIEW

     Express is seeking a CNC Machinist that can set up and operate CNC and conventional machinery to produce precision components from carbon materials. Performs machining, grinding, lapping, polishing, and finishing operations while reading blueprints, maintaining tight tolerances, and meeting quality and safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate a variety of standard and specialized machine shop equipment to perform precision machining operations, including lightband lapping, polishing, tool grinding, and related processes.
  • Select, install, and properly use a variety of cutting tools, including diamond grinding wheels.
  • Apply basic algebra and plane geometry to perform machining calculations and accurately interpret dimensional requirements.
  • Read, interpret, and follow moderately complex work instructions, blueprints, engineering drawings, route sheets, and other technical specifications.
  • Understand and apply the cumulative effects of tolerances when manufacturing precision components.
  • Perform machining operations to dimensional tolerances of 0.0001 inch.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections to verify that route sheets, drawings, specifications, and other requirements are met before proceeding with production.
  • Troubleshoot moderately complex mechanical devices and identify appropriate solutions to machining or mechanical issues.
  • Plan and complete simple machining projects, including the design and fabrication of basic jigs, fixtures, and other shop aids.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with established quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and conformance of all work produced.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience in CNC machining or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of cutting tools, hand tools, and precision measuring gauges.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of basic algebra and plane geometry as applied to machining operations.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and understand moderately complex blueprints, including the cumulative effects of dimensional tolerances.
  • Must be able to set up and safely operate machinery and equipment within the assigned department.
  • Must be able to perform work to dimensional requirements of 0.0001 inch (four decimal places).
