Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Control Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automation and control systems across our manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of automated equipment and processes. This role is critical in driving operational excellence through advanced control technologies, process optimization, and troubleshooting support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, program, and commission industrial control systems for manufacturing equipment and automated production lines.
  • Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial network systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation-related issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs for automation systems.
  • Modify and improve existing control systems to enhance equipment performance, productivity, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and project teams on process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control system documentation, I/O lists, and technical manuals.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Evaluate and implement new automation technologies to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Provide technical training and support to maintenance technicians and production personnel.
  • Participate in capital projects from concept through implementation and startup.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming platforms such as:
    • Siemens (TIA Portal)
    • Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation
    • Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar systems
  • Experience with HMI and SCADA development and support.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as:
    • Ethernet/IP
    • Profinet
    • Modbus
    • Profibus
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control system documentation.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and project management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in highly automated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of robotics systems, machine vision, and motion control applications.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0, Industrial IoT, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience with SQL databases and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or relevant industry certifications.
  • Experience working within Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement programs.

Working Conditions
  • Work within manufacturing and production environments containing automated machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support installations, commissioning activities, or vendor interactions.
  • Availability to support equipment troubleshooting outside normal business hours when necessary.
