Inventory Control Specialist Job Summary:

A Grand Rapids-area manufacturer is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to join their team. This position combines hands-on material handling with computer-based inventory control. The specialist will build and stage production kits, maintain inventory accuracy, complete ERP transactions, and help resolve discrepancies. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, comfortable multitasking, and naturally looks for ways to solve problems. This is a team-oriented environment where being willing to pitch in and help is important.

Inventory Control Specialist Responsibilities:

• Pick, stage, and assemble material kits based on production requirements, work orders, and BOMs
• Verify kit accuracy and completeness before materials are released to production
• Deliver materials to production areas and return unused materials when work orders are completed
• Perform routine cycle counts and inventory/location audits
• Research and troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, including mis-picks, incorrect locations, transaction errors, and other inventory variances
• Complete accurate inventory transactions, adjustments, issues, and returns within the ERP system
• Maintain organized inventory, storage, and point-of-use locations
• Support stock replenishment, FIFO, min/max inventory levels, and physical inventory counts
• Use scanners, inventory software, Excel, and basic computer applications throughout the workday
• Help identify inventory or process problems and work toward solutions
• Drive between two nearby company facilities as needed
• Assist other departments and complete additional assignments as needed

Schedule & Pay:

• Full-time, 1st shift with flexible start time between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Overtime opportunities available
• $19-$20/HR

Inventory Control Specialist Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Comfortable multitasking between physical inventory work and computer systems
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to pitch in where needed
• Ability to work independently and manage time and responsibilities effectively
• Previous manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, stockroom, kitting, food service, or other fast-paced experience
• ERP or inventory management software experience is preferred
• Comfortable with basic Excel, data entry, handheld scanners, and computer applications
• Ability to read or learn BOMs, work orders, pick lists, and inventory reports
• Forklift/hilo experience
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Valid transportation and ability to travel between company facilities
• High school diploma or GED required
