Maintenance Technician – Apartment Community

 

Location: Dumfries, VA
Pay: $24.00/hour
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday & Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
On-Call: Evening/Night On-Call Availability Required
Assignment: 1-Month Temporary Assignment with Potential Evaluation for Permanent Hire

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the daily maintenance and upkeep of an apartment community in Dumfries, VA. This position is ideal for someone with general maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities, plumbing, or property maintenance experience who can troubleshoot issues, respond to maintenance requests, and help keep the community clean, safe, and well-maintained.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general plumbing maintenance, including clearing drains, resolving clogs, and addressing basic plumbing issues.
• Assist with water leaks and flooded units, including responding to current water-damaged units and helping prevent further damage.
• Perform routine property upkeep, including trash removal, waste management, and maintaining clean common areas.
• Replace HVAC filters and assist with basic HVAC-related maintenance.
• Replace light bulbs, windows, and other basic fixtures as needed.
• Respond to maintenance requests and troubleshoot routine issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and functional apartment community.
• Provide evening/night on-call support when needed.
• Communicate professionally with residents, property management, and vendors.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures while performing maintenance duties.

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience in apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, or general maintenance preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance issues.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations when on call.
• Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
