A reputable local accounting firm is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join their team. This is a full-time, evaluation-to-hire opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (A/R)

  • Maintain detailed and accurate accounts receivable records.
  • Mail statements to brokers.
  • Post client and carrier direct bill payments into the accounting system.
  • Reconcile unapplied payments and payment discrepancies.
  • Process deposits accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Execute intra-company bank transfers.
  • Respond to broker inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Accounts Payable (A/P)

  • Process accounts payable for operating expenses across multiple entities.
  • Process brokered invoices and payments to agents and finance companies.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable files.
  • Compile and maintain accounts payable reporting.
  • Reconcile accounts and respond to broker inquiries.
  • Prepare surplus lines filings and premium tax payments.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience required
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid math and accounting skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Full Time Evaluation Hire Position

M-F 8:00 am-5:00 pm

$22.00 / hour
