Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Soldering Operator to perform precision soldering, PCB rework, manual assembly, inspection, and repair of electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies.

 

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with surface-mount technology (SMT), through-hole soldering, fine-pitch components, microscope inspection, and PCB rework. This position is well suited to a detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing high-quality electronic assemblies and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform soldering, rework, repair, and manual assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies.
• Perform hardware rework using rework instructions, engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and other technical documentation.
• Perform fine-pitch and microcircuit assembly requiring precise hand alignment and soldering techniques.
• Solder and rework surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole (THT/PTH) components.
• Use microscopes and other inspection equipment to verify solder quality, component placement, and workmanship.
• Verify correct component placement and ensure assemblies meet applicable quality and workmanship standards.
• Operate automatic and semi-automatic equipment used to position, solder, and clean electronic components.
• Remove and replace defective or damaged electronic components.
• Repair and refurbish older electronic devices and assemblies as required.
• Maintain accurate records of repair work performed and components used.
• Follow established work instructions, quality procedures, and applicable IPC standards.
• Identify potential quality issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet production requirements.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on soldering and PCB rework experience, preferably within an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience with PCB assembly, rework, and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, BOMs, and other technical documentation.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • SMT component assembly and rework
  • Through-hole soldering
  • Fine-pitch soldering
  • Microscope soldering and inspection
  • PCB repair and component replacement
• Strong soldering skills, including the ability to safely and accurately add, remove, and replace SMT and through-hole components.
• Good understanding of electronic components and their identification.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of manual dexterity.
• Ability to work accurately while handling small components and performing precision work.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality control standards is considered an asset.
• IPC J-STD-001 certification is preferred; trainer-level capability is considered an asset.
