The Maintenance Technician job consists of activities of the maintenance department including diagnosing mechanical malfunctioning of equipment and adjusting, repairing, rebuilding, overhauling, replacing equipment and components to ensure a safe and efficient operation. This will also include conducting equipment and facilities PM’s, inspections, and routine maintenance.
The Maintenance Technician works closely with all supporting groups including, Quality Laboratory, Production Coordinator, Ingot Production and Final Measurement and to ensure production needs are achievable.
OBJECTIVE:
The Maintenance Technician is to support and maintain facilities infrastructure and to support the goals of manufacturing. Also to manage and assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, equipment and machinery, including but not limited to HVAC, building lighting systems, Lathe machines, hydraulic isostatic presses, ovens/furnaces, grounds keeping, security and overall facility appearance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform all the duties in a safe, responsible manner in accordance with the client EHS Charter, observing all Company and Government regulations.
· Ensures required equipment and tools are in good working condition, and calibration dates are in specification.
· Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment and production equipment on a scheduled basis or as issued by QCBD; inspects and checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts as needed or required.
· Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures and enter into QCBD.
· Responds to emergency maintenance requests from production areas as required.
· To administer training of approved contractor using the clients Contractor’s Orientation program and to include documentation and entering into QCBD.
· Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
· May obtain estimates from supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
· Maintains and ensures that any licenses needed or required are active and up to date.
· Provides assistance to employees as required ensuring a safe and cohesive work environment.
· Ensures that employees are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following safety requirements at all times.
· Observes and reports all unsafe conditions to the Operations Manager.
· Ensures that the preventative maintenance reports been completed and signed off.
· Maintains 5S conditions at all times in the department and ensures walkways are clear of obstructions.
· To ensure all tools and relating equipment are properly stored and are in good working condition.
· Perform all other duties and assignments as and when requested.

Responsible to ensure the Standards of Performance are adhered to for the site. Including but not limited to the following.
· Errors or deviation from accepted procedures and/or operating instructions must be reported immediately
· Must be conscientious and dependable in performing the job and must observe all safety rules and regulations.
· Cooperate with other employees to achieve an efficient and harmonious operation.
· Maintain an efficient operation by meeting safety, quality and good housekeeping and adhering to 5S and productivity standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The Maintenance technician must be able to fulfill the following requirements:
· Be physically capable of performing the job.
· Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with other personnel.
· Must comprehend oral and written instructions sufficiently to carry them out properly and efficiently.
· Have high school education or equivalent.
· Must be familiar with and observe all Company safety rules and regulations.
· Must complete all safety training as assigned.
· Participate in World Class Manufacturing activities as requested.
· Participate in Saint-Gobain training activities as required.
· Must adhere to the General Principles of Conduct of the client.
· Must participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing 24/7 coverage for a one-week period including weekends, and responding to maintenance emergencies as needed. Frequency is subject to change.
