Overview
Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Sanitation Associate on behalf of our client in the Fraser Valley. We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Sanitation Associate to join our client's Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary production facility and common areas while following established food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow established cleaning and sanitizing procedures and standards.
- Complete daily sanitation and janitorial records accurately.
- Clean and sanitize the laboratory daily.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout production areas and common areas.
- Clean lunchrooms, washrooms, showers, hallways, warehouse areas, and other shared spaces.
- Dust, sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors and surfaces as required.
- Empty garbage and recycling regularly.
- Clean hand-washing sinks, windows, glass partitions, doors, and other common areas using approved cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain cleanliness of parking areas and walkways and remove debris as needed.
- Remove cardboard, plastic, organic waste, and other materials from production areas.
- Sweep warehouse floors and clean sanitation equipment and tools.
- Replenish consumable supplies throughout production and general areas.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of janitorial and sanitation supplies.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) when completing cleaning, waste removal, recycling, and general sanitation duties.
- Ensure required FSSC, HACCP, and quality documentation is completed accurately.
- Use approved chemicals at the correct concentrations and according to proper procedures.
- Complete internal sanitation and inspection reports.
- Follow all company quality policies and procedures.
- Wear required PPE and follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals and performing job duties.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide support to the Sanitation Team and assist with coordination of activities when required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in a food manufacturing, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment.
- Experience operating industrial floor scrubbers and floor-cleaning equipment.
- Experience with HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP, or other quality systems is an asset.
- Experience operating manual and powered pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality.
- Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written English skills with the ability to understand and communicate clear instructions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changes or unexpected situations.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs.).
- Flexible and willing to work varying shifts as required.
