Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, and machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on diesel-powered equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related problems.
• Perform engine repairs, tune-ups, oil changes, brake repairs, and other maintenance services.
• Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and specialized shop equipment.
• Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.
• Inspect equipment and identify worn, damaged, or defective components.
• Replace or repair faulty parts and components.
• Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance performed.
• Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and properly maintained.
• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Communicate repair needs and equipment issues to supervisors or management.
• Perform other mechanical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• ASE or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in awkward positions.
• Ability to work around grease, oil, fuel, noise, and industrial equipment.
• Ability to safely use required tools and equipment.
• Ability to wear required PPE.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a shop, warehouse, fleet, or industrial environment. The Diesel Mechanic may work around heavy equipment, vehicles, engines, tools, oils, fuels, and other mechanical components.
