Transformer Coil Winder

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Transformer Coil Winder to operate coil-winding equipment and manufacture transformer coils according to engineering specifications, drawings, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate coil-winding machines and related production equipment.
  • Wind copper or aluminum wire and other conductor materials onto transformer coils according to specifications.
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, winding charts, and production schedules.
  • Measure and verify wire, insulation, coil dimensions, tension, and winding patterns.
  • Maintain proper wire tension, spacing, alignment, and insulation throughout the winding process.
  • Install insulation materials, spacers, barriers, and other coil components as required.
  • Monitor equipment during operation and make adjustments to maintain product quality.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of completed coils.
  • Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges.
  • Identify defects, irregularities, or equipment problems and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Keep machines, tools, and the work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies.
  • Meet production goals while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in transformer manufacturing, coil winding, electrical manufacturing, or industrial production preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate production machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand basic drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise, repetitive work.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn specialized winding processes and equipment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience winding transformer coils or electrical coils.
  • Experience working with copper or aluminum conductors.
  • Familiarity with insulation systems and transformer components.
  • Experience with CNC or automated winding equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical or mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with quality-control inspection procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials as required by the position.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to safely handle wire, insulation materials, tooling, and production components.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

The Transformer Coil Winder works in a manufacturing environment around industrial machinery and electrical manufacturing equipment. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and use required personal protective equipment.
