Local college is seeking a Temporary Payroll Analyst. The Temporary Payroll Analyst supports accurate and timely payroll processing by reviewing payroll data, maintaining payroll records, assisting with payroll transactions, and providing excellent customer service. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role depends on effective communication, sound judgment, adaptability, commitment to confidentiality, and a willingness to learn new processes and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews timesheets and attendance records for accuracy and promptly corrects discrepancies.
  • Computes and verifies employee wages, deductions, taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
  • Reviews payroll calculations for accuracy and compliance with applicable legal and organizational requirements.
  • Reviews and verifies payroll information for promotions, transfers, terminations, and new hires.
  • Records and maintains employee records and payroll transactions, and prepares statements of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Issues and distributes paychecks and supports the timely completion of payroll processing.
  • Answers payroll questions and resolves issues in a professional and customer-focused manner.
  • Conducts payroll audits and prepares detailed reports for management and auditing purposes.
  • Assists with payroll calendars and documents procedures to improve and streamline payroll processes.
  • Maintains the confidentiality and integrity of payroll information and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree and four years of finance, business, payroll, or related experience; bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or master's degree.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and email.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • Payroll experience in higher education.
  • Advanced Excel experience
  • Familiarity with federal and state payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, payroll systems, and database software.
