Position Summary
Express Employment Professionals of Denton County is seeking a responsible Equipment Technician for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated production equipment, test systems, and manufacturing machinery. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, maximizing uptime, and supporting quality and production objectives. The Automation Technician works closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to maintain efficient, safe, and high-performing manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment, production machinery, conveyors, and testing systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and calibration documentation.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and equipment readiness.
Equipment Installation & Commissioning
- Support installation, relocation, and startup of new manufacturing and automation equipment.
- Assist with the integration of automated systems, inspection technologies, and production equipment.
- Calibrate machinery and verify operational readiness before release to production.
- Participate in equipment validation and acceptance activities.
Process & Production Support
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Support production line changes, process improvements, and tooling adjustments.
- Recommend and implement maintenance best practices to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance and productivity.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workplace safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe and organized condition.
- Participate in safety inspections, audits, and corrective action initiatives.
- Comply with all applicable regulatory and company requirements.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance, industrial automation, manufacturing, or a related technical environment.
- Experience supporting automated production equipment preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, motors, drives, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and other technical test equipment.
- Familiarity with robotics, machine vision systems, or automated inspection equipment is a plus.
- Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
Schedule Requirements
- Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, overtime, or respond to urgent equipment issues as needed.
