Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout company facilities. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance duties to ensure buildings and grounds are properly maintained and present a professional appearance for employees, customers, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitation

• Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, lobbies, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
• Clean windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and other surfaces.
• Replenish restroom and janitorial supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures.

Facility Maintenance

• Perform routine inspections of facilities and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Set up and arrange furniture, tables, and equipment for meetings or events as needed.
• Replace light bulbs and perform minor maintenance tasks as authorized.
• Assist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, or exterior cleaning when required.
• Ensure building entrances, walkways, and common areas remain clean and safe.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and cleaning protocols.
• Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Maintain compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Respond promptly to spills, hazards, or emergency cleaning situations.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

General Duties

• Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet cleaners.
• Maintain janitorial inventories and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishment.
• Secure facilities by locking doors and windows as required.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
