Job Summary

The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods, materials, or equipment to designated locations. This position requires adherence to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards while providing excellent customer service and maintaining accurate delivery records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate commercial vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
• Transport products, materials, or equipment to customer, vendor, or company locations.
• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections.
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and transported in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, inspection records, and other required documentation.
• Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and company regulations.
• Communicate delivery status, delays, or issues with dispatch and management.
• Verify delivery paperwork and obtain required signatures as needed.
• Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns promptly.
• Assist with loading and unloading cargo as required.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous customer service.
• Support warehouse, yard, or logistics operations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or Class B, as required by the position.
• Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, where applicable.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous commercial driving experience preferred but not always required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
• Ability to operate commercial vehicles safely under various road and weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to use electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS systems, and mobile communication devices.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods.
• Ability to climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and secure loads as necessary.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
