About the Position

Express Employment Professionals is seeking dependable Material Sorters to join our client's recycling operations team. The Sorter is responsible for inspecting and properly classifying recyclable materials moving along a conveyor line, removing contaminants, and placing materials into the appropriate containers.

This is a hands-on opportunity for individuals who want to join a hardworking team while contributing to a safer, cleaner, and more efficient recycling operation.

Essential Functions

• Inspect and sort materials according to size, type, and condition.
• Remove contaminants and place materials in the appropriate containers.
• Keep the work area and surrounding areas clean and organized.
• Report unsafe working conditions or equipment/team concerns to the supervisor immediately.
• Attend and participate in safety meetings.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• No prior experience required.
• No specific education or previous industry experience required.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Regularly lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Stand for extended periods.
• Frequently bend, twist, and stretch to pick up materials.
• Work around conveyor systems, trucks, and machinery with potentially high noise levels.
• Work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Potential exposure to dust, odors, and other materials associated with recycling operations.
• Required to use PPE such as gloves and safety glasses.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Compensation & Schedule

Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour

• 1st shift available
• 2nd shift available
• Overtime opportunities available
