Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 DOE

The purpose of this role is to lead and support the company’s safety and environmental programs, supporting three different company locations in Oregon and California. This position partners closely with the Safety Committee Chairperson(s), Operations Management, production leadership, Human Resources, and employees to develop and strengthen safety and environmental practices, maintain regulatory compliance, reduce workplace injuries, and support a proactive safety culture across all three company locations. This is an
onsite position located in McMinnville, Oregon with frequent travel requirements to Boring, OR and Cloverdale, CA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead the development, implementation, and regular maintenance of all safety and environmental programs for all company locations in Oregon and California.
  • Ensure safety and environmental policies, procedures, training, and practices are applied consistently and comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Review safety and environmental practices and reporting to identify compliance or operational gaps, and recommend improvements to reduce risk and support company compliance and goals.
  • Represent the company, in coordination with the HR Manager and appropriate leadership, in communications with regulatory agencies, including onsite inspections, responses to inquiries, regulatory interpretation, and related follow-up.
  • Support leaders across production and operations by maintaining a consistent onsite presence, providing support, identifying risks, reinforcing safe work practices, and helping integrate safety expectations into daily operations. Regularly traveling between McMinnville, Boring, and Cloverdale, CA facilities. 
  • Participate in each location’s safety committee; coordinate and perform annual committee training requirements
  • Partner with safety committees to inspect company facilities and work areas to identify existing or potential safety and environmental hazards
  • Coordinate corrective and preventative actions to address safety, health, and environmental concerns
  • Ensure safety trainings, inspections, documentation, meetings, and follow-up items are completed accurately, timely, and aligned with company safety priorities
  • Partner with safety committees to support accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations
  • Recommend and coordinate training programs that increase employee knowledge of safe work practices and promote safety awareness 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


 5+ years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety, safety leadership, or senior operations with responsibility for safety and environmental programs, audits, and regulatory compliance required
 Experience in lumber and/or manufacturing background preferred
 Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or a related field preferred
 Working knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations, including EPA and OSHA requirements
 Safety-related certification or training, such as OSHA 30, or other relevant safety credentials preferred
 Experience developing, implementing, auditing, or maintaining safety programs, policies, procedures, and training materials, ideally across multiple locations
 Proficiency in hazard identification and risk assessment
 Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to build manager trust, gain buy-in, and support ownership of safety expectations
 Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain safety expectations, procedures, and compliance requirements clearly to employees at all levels
 Strong reporting and presentation skills
 Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, documentation requirements, and time-sensitive safety matters
 Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce and communicate safety information in a practical, respectful, and understandable way
 Excellent understanding of confidentiality and workplace privacy laws and best practices
 Excellent computer skills
 Ability to travel regularly to Boring, OR and Cloverdale, CA locations
 Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
