Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-Time with Rotating On-Call Coverage
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician - Dairy Systems to join our team supporting dairy farms and dairy production facilities. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of dairy equipment and automated systems, including milking parlors, robotic milking systems, refrigeration equipment, vacuum systems, and milk handling infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, and welding systems. Experience working in dairy farming, cheese production, or food processing environments is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot automated milking parlors, robotic milking systems, vacuum pumps, and dairy automation equipment.
- Service and maintain milk cooling compressors, chillers, refrigeration systems, and bulk milk tanks.
- Install new dairy equipment, automation systems, controls, and hardware at customer locations.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and recommend repairs or upgrades.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and refrigeration issues affecting dairy operations.
- Perform food-grade stainless steel fabrication and welding as needed.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and customer documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service while communicating effectively with dairy producers and facility personnel.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to emergency service calls and critical farm equipment failures.
- Travel regularly to customer locations throughout the service territory.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in farm, production, and outdoor environments.
- Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in refrigeration systems and HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, sensors, and automation.
- Plumbing experience related to dairy, agricultural, or processing equipment.
- Food-grade stainless steel welding and fabrication experience.
- Familiarity with robotic milking systems, rotary parlors, and dairy automation technology.
- Experience servicing compressors, chillers, vacuum pumps, and fluid handling systems.
- Previous experience in dairy farming, cheese manufacturing, dairy processing, or agricultural equipment service.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or trade certification preferred but not required.
