Field Laborer

Role Overview

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable and hardworking Field Laborer to join a local company in Jackson, MO. The Field Laborer will assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing underground utility systems and will work alongside equipment operators, pipe layers, and other construction professionals.

This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and follow strict safety procedures around excavation and trenching operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Dig and prepare trenches for pipes, cables, conduits, and other underground systems.
• Load, unload, carry, and move heavy materials, tools, and equipment around job sites.
• Assist machine operators with daily construction activities.
• Assist pipe layers with installation and positioning of underground utilities.
• Perform general labor and site cleanup as needed.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and appropriately.
• Help prepare and maintain job sites for construction activities.
• Follow directions from supervisors and experienced crew members.
• Follow strict safety procedures when working around trenches, excavation areas, heavy equipment, and moving machinery.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Requirements

• Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to safely use basic hand tools and power tools.
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation to job sites.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active construction areas.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
• Previous general labor, utility, excavation, or construction experience is helpful but not required.
