Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and dependable Machinist to join a local company in Cape Girardeau, MO. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining and at least 5 years of experience operating mills, manual lathes, or both. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to produce quality parts while following specifications and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Operate mills, manual lathes, and other machining equipment.
Set up and operate machines according to job specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and machining instructions.
Select and properly use cutting tools, measuring instruments, and fixtures.
Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
Make machine adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.
Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment and work areas clean.
Identify and troubleshoot machining issues as they arise.
Follow production schedules and meet quality and productivity requirements.
Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience with mills, manual lathes, or mill/manual lathe machining.
Strong understanding of machining processes and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Experience using precision measuring tools.
Knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and basic machining principles.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve machining problems.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required.
Must follow all workplace safety requirements.
