We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for a 3-4 month project.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and performing detailed account analysis to ensure the integrity of financial statements. This role plays a vital part in maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, and corporate policies. The Staff Accountant collaborates with cross-functional teams to support new software implementations and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical and technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This position offers growth potential through hands-on involvement in complex financial transactions and strategic accounting projects.

What You Get to Do!
•    Record Financial Transactions: Accurately prepare, review, and record journal entries in the general ledger (GL) to reflect financial activity in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies. Ensure proper coding, documentation, and approvals for all entries, including recurring, accruals, and adjusting entries.
•    Account Reconciliations: Prepare, analyze, and complete timely reconciliations of balance sheet accounts by comparing general ledger data to supporting subledgers, schedules, and documentation. Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies or variances through collaboration with internal stakeholders or by performing root cause analysis. Ensure reconciliations are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal controls, company policies, and applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, SOX). Maintain clear, audit-ready documentation and escalate complex issues when necessary to ensure financial data integrity and accurate financial reporting.
•    Financial Reporting: Review and analyze financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with GAAP and company policies. Prepare and distribute timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct variance and trend analyses to explain fluctuations in financial performance, and develop what-if scenarios and financial models to support strategic decision-making. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and respond to internal and external audit requests by providing accurate documentation and supporting analyses. Continuously identify opportunities to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and automation through system tools or process improvements.
•    Software Initiatives: Actively support technology and system enhancement initiatives by participating in the design, testing, and implementation of new software solutions (e.g., ERP upgrades, automation tools, financial reporting platforms). Collaborate with IT, accounting, and cross-functional teams to define system requirements, validate data integrity, and ensure accounting functionality aligns with business needs and GAAP compliance. Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), identify and troubleshoot issues, and assist in documenting updated processes and controls. Serve as a key contributor to efforts aimed at increasing efficiency, improving data accuracy, and streamlining workflows through technology-driven improvements.
