About the Role

A well-established organization in Oklahoma City is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations across multiple divisions and programs. This position will lead a small accounting team, oversee financial reporting and compliance, and provide financial insight and support to organizational leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting and financial management experience, along with the ability to work across multiple departments and programs. Experience in nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, and managing multiple funding sources is preferred.

 

What You'll Do

  • Supervise a small accounting team and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR, credit card approvals, check signing, and RFP processes.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, reconciliations, invoicing, and collections.
  • Oversee financial activity across multiple departments, programs, and entities.
  • Monitor grant-related accounting and compliance requirements and assist with required reporting and funding requests.
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, budgeting, event financials, special projects, and other financial initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate nonprofit financial records, including restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Provide financial information and analysis to leadership to support organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with leadership, staff, external auditors, CPAs, and other stakeholders.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of accounting management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing financial activity across multiple departments, programs, or entities.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
  • Grant accounting, grant reporting, or government-funded program experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
