Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Shipping & Logistics Manager to oversee shipping, receiving, logistics, inventory movement, and material transportation operations for a growing organization.

This position is responsible for ensuring that materials, equipment, tools, supplies, and other products are received, stored, staged, loaded, transported, and delivered accurately and efficiently.

The Shipping & Logistics Manager works closely with operations, project management, purchasing, inventory, equipment, fleet, warehouse, and field personnel to ensure materials and equipment are available where and when they are needed.

The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on leader who can effectively manage people, transportation, schedules, inventory movement, and competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy, customer service, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound shipping and receiving activities.

  • Ensure materials, equipment, tools, and supplies are properly received, inspected, documented, stored, and distributed.

  • Verify quantities, part numbers, purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation.

  • Coordinate shipments with vendors, carriers, customers, and internal teams.

  • Ensure outbound shipments are accurately picked, packaged, labeled, loaded, and documented.

  • Coordinate daily delivery and transportation schedules for customers, warehouses, job sites, and field personnel.

  • Coordinate company trucks, trailers, delivery vehicles, and outside transportation providers.

  • Ensure materials and equipment arrive at their destinations on time and in the proper quantities.

  • Coordinate urgent and time-sensitive deliveries when required.

  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for team members.

  • Ensure employees follow company policies, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and communicate daily priorities.

  • Address performance issues professionally and consistently.

  • Develop employees through training, coaching, and cross-training.

  • Coordinate with fleet and equipment personnel regarding vehicle and trailer availability.

  • Ensure delivery vehicles and trailers are properly assigned and utilized.

  • Monitor transportation-related maintenance, inspections, and documentation.

  • Ensure vehicles and trailers are loaded safely and within applicable weight and safety requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve shipping, receiving, transportation, and inventory processes.

  • Maintain an organized, efficient, and safety-focused shipping and receiving operation.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse operations, transportation, materials management, or a related field.

  • Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory, warehouse, or logistics software.

  • Ability to effectively work with warehouse, field, project management, operations, and leadership teams.

  • Experience coordinating transportation, deliveries, carriers, and material movement preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory and shipping accuracy.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and handle materials and equipment.

  • Ability to work in warehouse, yard, office, and outdoor environments.

  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to safely operate or supervise the operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment, as applicable.
