Housekeeper
Located in York, PA
Salary: $15.50/hr
Hours: 7am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday. If hired on, it does require every other weekend with one day in the week off.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff throughout the senior living community. This position performs daily cleaning and sanitation of resident rooms, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned areas while following established cleaning procedures and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with older adults and be able to communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, visitors, and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and lavatories on a daily basis.
• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, furnishings, and equipment in preparation for new resident admissions.
• Clean hallways, lounges, common areas, and other assigned areas throughout the facility.
• Empty wastebaskets and properly dispose of trash from assigned work areas.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and maintain cleaning carts within designated timeframes.
• Maintain cleaning equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Assist with the facility's bi-yearly linen inventory.
• Report potential or actual environmental, maintenance, or safety concerns to the Environmental Services Supervisor.
• Follow established cleaning procedures and properly operate cleaning equipment.
• Maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful relationship with residents, visitors, and fellow staff members.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect resident and facility information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn established cleaning procedures and safely operate cleaning equipment.
• Genuine concern for and interest in working with elderly and/or handicapped individuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
• Manual dexterity necessary to operate cleaning equipment and perform required duties.
• Visual ability sufficient to perform cleaning and sanitation tasks.
• Ability to hear and understand directions and respond appropriately to resident requests.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift up to 65 pounds and regularly carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to lift and support up to 25 pounds and regularly push or pull up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to safely maneuver cleaning equipment and supplies throughout the facility.
• Approximately 80% standing/walking, 15% stooping/bending, and 5% sitting during a typical shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work is primarily performed indoors in a senior living or nursing care environment.
• Work is performed in resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, common areas, and other facility spaces.
• Position involves frequent interaction with residents, staff, and visitors.
• May involve exposure to communicable illnesses and other conditions common to a healthcare or residential care environment.
• Employee must follow all facility safety, sanitation, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
