School Cook – Short-Term Assignment

Location: Dallas, TX
Pay: $16.21/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Assignment Length: 1 Week 8/24/26- 8/28/26

We are seeking a dependable Cook for a one-week assignment at a school in Dallas. This position will prepare and cook meals in large quantities for students and staff while following standardized recipes, nutritional guidelines, and food safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook large quantities of meals according to established recipes and portion sizes.
• Prepare meats, vegetables, grains, desserts, and other menu items.
• Wash, chop, slice, measure, and prepare ingredients.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, steamers, and mixers.
• Ensure foods are cooked and maintained at proper temperatures.
• Set up serving lines and serve meals to students and staff efficiently.
• Follow proper food storage, rotation, handling, and sanitation procedures.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and food preparation areas.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
• Assist with inventory and ensure adequate food and supplies are available.
• Follow all food safety regulations and school policies regarding dietary needs and restrictions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous commercial kitchen, cafeteria, restaurant, or food service experience preferred.
• Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
• Comfortable preparing food in large quantities.
• Ability to safely use knives and commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and portion guidelines.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Dependable and able to commit to the entire Monday–Friday assignment.
