We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to support manufacturing operations by managing purchasing activities, supplier relationships, material requirements, and supply chain needs. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, manufacturing experience, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate directly with vendors to secure competitive pricing, quality, and lead times.
- Process purchase requisitions and order requirements.
- Manage supply chain activities to support production schedules and operational needs.
- Create, track, and expedite purchase orders to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Maintain consistent communication with suppliers regarding material availability, lead times, delays, and other potential disruptions.
- Review requisitions, purchases, and estimates to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
- Assist with receiving purchased materials and services while maintaining accurate purchasing records.
- Monitor and report the status of open purchase orders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance and address quality, delivery, or service concerns.
- Research and develop new vendors and suppliers to strengthen the supplier base.
- Maintain and manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Assist with closing jobs in preparation for shipment to customers or vendors.
- Support Shipping and Receiving with transportation selections based on cost, timing, and shipment size.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of purchasing and supply chain management.
- Excellent vendor negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, mathematical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt and shift priorities based on changing production and organizational needs.
