Assistant Store Manager

We're seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead the day-to-day operations of a high-volume retail location in Champaign. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys coaching employees, and takes pride in delivering a great customer experience.
As the Assistant Store Manager, you'll work alongside the Store Manager to oversee daily operations, support team members, maintain merchandise flow, and help achieve sales and productivity goals. You'll play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience while ensuring the store remains safe, organized, and efficient.

What You'll Do
- Assist with overseeing daily retail store operations.
- Supervise, coach, and develop team members to achieve individual and team goals.
- Help create employee schedules and ensure proper staffing levels.
- Maintain a positive, productive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Monitor sales floor activity and ensure merchandise is displayed, stocked, and rotated appropriately.
- Support donation processing and inventory movement from receiving to the sales floor.
- Assist with achieving store performance, production, and sales goals.
- Address customer questions, concerns, and service issues professionally.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and employee training activities.
- Assist with cash handling, opening and closing procedures, and daily operational reporting.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shopping environment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous retail leadership, assistant manager, shift manager, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and accountability skills.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees.
- Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, adaptable, and able to lead by example.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Experience with POS systems, inventory management, or retail operations is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the workday.
- Frequently lift, push, pull, and move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, climb ladders, and stock merchandise throughout the day.
- Comfortable working in an active retail environment.
