Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a local higher education institution to recruit a Manager of Grant Financial Operations to oversee the financial administration, reporting, and compliance of sponsored programs, including federal, state, and private grants, contracts, and awards.
This is a great opportunity for an accounting or finance professional with strong attention to detail who enjoys working with financial data, compliance, reporting, and cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do

Manage the creation, maintenance, and closure of restricted funds within the organization's accounting system.

Track grant expenses, allocate payroll, update budgets, post journal entries, and perform budget-to-actual reconciliations.

Identify and correct improper cost transfers and posting errors.

Complete month-end processes and prepare financial reports and schedules for restricted funds.

Monitor grant cash flow, including invoices, draw requests, reimbursements, and required financial reporting.

Collaborate with Finance and Human Resources to establish and reconcile grant-funded positions.

Work with internal and external partners to streamline billing and reimbursement processes.

Assist with year-end financial processes and annual audits, including preparing schedules, calculations, accruals, and supporting documentation.

Serve as a primary point of contact for Research & Development audits.

Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting requirements.

Assist with annual reporting requirements related to restricted funds and federally funded programs.

Help develop, update, and document financial policies and procedures.

Collaborate with departments across the organization to promote accurate and timely financial reporting.

Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve ERP functionality.

Participate in special projects and other financial initiatives as needed.
What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2–4 years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, or a related area.

Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data sorting, and PivotTables.

Ability to handle confidential financial information with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with federal, state, local, or private grant administration.

Understanding of GAAP, GASB, and Uniform Guidance requirements.

Experience with restricted funds, grant accounting, or sponsored programs.

Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support.

Experience working with ERP systems or improving financial processes.
