Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a local higher education institution to recruit a Financial Reporting Manager to support financial operations, reporting, compliance, and audit activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting or finance professional who enjoys working with financial data, improving processes, and collaborating across an organization.

What You'll Do

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial data review.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and internal financial reports.
  • Identify and interpret significant financial variances and trends.
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc reports to support organizational decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports related to capital projects, fixed assets, budgets, and other financial activities.
  • Coordinate and assist with required external financial reporting to state, federal, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Support annual financial statement audits by preparing workpapers, schedules, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure financial reporting complies with GAAP, GASB, and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Assist with audit activities involving government funding, research and development, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Help develop, update, and document financial policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization to improve understanding of financial data and processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve ERP functionality.
  • Participate in special projects and other financial initiatives as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, or a related area.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data sorting, and PivotTables.
  • Ability to work with confidential financial information while maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with higher education, government, nonprofit, or other complex financial environments.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting annual audits.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and GASB.
  • Experience with financial reporting and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Experience working with ERP systems or improving financial processes.
