Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician III (Master Maintenance Technician) to join our team in Longview, Texas. This senior-level maintenance professional is responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on complex industrial equipment, facility systems, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical and mechanical expertise and have experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

This role serves as a technical leader within the maintenance department, providing mentorship to junior technicians, coordinating contractor activities, supporting capital improvement projects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Technician III plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of facility and production equipment, including:

    • Electrical systems
    • Mechanical systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • Building automation systems
    • Electric Arc Furnaces
    • Heat Treat Ovens
    • Overhead Cranes and related equipment
  • Lead complex equipment installations, upgrades, retrofits, and facility improvement projects.

  • Develop, implement, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical equipment failures with minimal supervision.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to Maintenance Technicians I and II.

  • Coordinate and oversee work performed by contractors, vendors, and third-party service providers.

  • Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, manuals, and specifications.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history files, and service documentation within CMMS systems.

  • Support capital improvement projects and assist in evaluating new equipment purchases and facility upgrades.

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, and EPA standards.

  • Participate in emergency response activities and on-call rotations as required.

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall facility performance.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, HVAC, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair experience required.

Preferred Certifications

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (HVAC/R)
  • Electrical License or Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Additional trade certifications or licenses, including:
    • Master Electrician
    • Journeyman Electrician
    • Welding Certifications
    • Plumbing Certifications
    • Other relevant skilled trade credentials

Additional compensation may be available for candidates who possess current, active licenses or certifications, including Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, and other applicable trade credentials.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and industrial systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and equipment reliability.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support less-experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Microsoft Excel, email, and other business software preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Regular exposure to industrial equipment, electrical systems, machinery, heights, confined spaces, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and working on ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, shift schedules, and on-call assignments as operational needs require.
