Salary: $14 per Hour

 

The Driver Helper works alongside a route driver to safely and efficiently complete daily pickup and collection routes. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position requiring frequent lifting, walking, climbing on and off the vehicle, and working in varying weather conditions.

 

Responsibilities:

• Assist the driver with completing assigned daily routes
• Load bags, containers, debris, or other materials into the collection vehicle
• Safely operate or assist with vehicle loading/packing equipment as trained
• Ride on the collection vehicle and enter/exit the vehicle repeatedly throughout the shift
• Assist the driver during backing and other vehicle maneuvers
• Maintain awareness of traffic, pedestrians, equipment, and other safety hazards
• Identify and report prohibited materials, unsafe conditions, or equipment problems
• Keep the vehicle and work areas clean
• Communicate with the driver, dispatcher, and supervisors regarding route issues
• Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements

Requirements:

• Ability to perform continuous physical labor throughout the shift
• Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 lbs. repeatedly
• Comfortable working outdoors in Florida heat, rain, and other weather conditions
• Dependable attendance and ability to report for early-morning shifts
• Ability to follow safety instructions and work effectively as part of a two-person team
