IT Project Specialist

Job Summary
The IT Project Specialist supports the planning, implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement of technology initiatives across Interlink operations. This position provides technical expertise and project support for software implementations, cybersecurity initiatives, Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption, business technology solutions, process automation, system upgrades, and other special IT projects that support operational efficiency and the company’s digital transformation objectives.
The IT Project Specialist works closely with the IT Support Specialist, Operations Process Manager, business users, and other departments to implement technology solutions, improve systems and processes, protect data integrity, and maintain compliance with company policies, security standards, CTPAT requirements, and applicable Quality Management System procedures. The position may also coordinate with external vendors and provide technology-related assistance to customers or business partners as needed.
Organizational Relationships
The IT Project Specialist reports directly to the Operations Process Manager and collaborates with all departments to support technology implementations, process improvements, cybersecurity initiatives, and special projects.
This position works closely with the IT Support Specialist and may interact with external technology vendors, service providers, customers, and other business partners.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of related IT experience is preferred.
- Technical certifications, vocational training, or equivalent hands-on experience in Information Technology, Systems Administration, Software Support, Cybersecurity, or related areas are highly desirable.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, implementation, testing, configuration, and deployment of new technology systems, software applications, and IT solutions.
- Support technology projects from initial evaluation and testing through implementation, user onboarding, documentation, and post-implementation support.
- Assist with software releases, system upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and other technology improvements.
- Support Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives, including the implementation, testing, adoption, and responsible use of approved AI tools.
- Collaborate with business departments to identify processes that may benefit from technology, automation, AI, workflow improvements, or other digital solutions.
- Assist in developing and maintaining automation, workflows, reports, forms, and other technology-based process improvements using approved platforms and tools.
- Participate in the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and improvement of business applications and technology platforms used throughout the organization.
- Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, including monitoring security alerts, identifying potential risks, supporting security updates, and following established incident response procedures.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, access controls, security updates, and other approved security measures.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and validation related to new systems, software implementations, technology upgrades, integrations, and special projects.
- Coordinate with the IT Support Specialist and business users during technology implementations to help ensure successful deployment and minimize operational disruptions.
- Gather user feedback following implementations and identify opportunities to improve system functionality, user experience, and business processes.
- Create and maintain project documentation, technical procedures, implementation records, user guides, training materials, and knowledge base documentation.
- Assist with user training and technology adoption related to newly implemented systems, software, AI tools, and process improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance operational efficiency, system reliability, cybersecurity, and the effective use of technology.
- Ensure assigned IT projects and technology activities comply with company policies, security requirements, CTPAT requirements, and applicable Quality Management System procedures.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, Artificial Intelligence solutions, automation tools, and industry practices that may benefit the organization.
- Provide technical support to the IT Support Specialist when additional assistance is required for complex systems, software, network, or hardware issues.
- Maintain appropriate records and tracking related to assigned technology projects, implementations, equipment, software, system changes, and configurations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including administrative responsibilities and special technology projects.
