Express Employment is seeking an experienced HVAC Installation Technician to join a great reputable company. This position involves installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential settings. You’ll work directly in customers’ homes, so professionalism, integrity, and trustworthiness are essential.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Installation & System Performance
- Perform residential and commercial HVACR installation work independently and as part of an installation team.
- Install and integrate HVAC equipment and related components in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and company procedures.
- Evaluate the overall HVAC system, including airflow, ductwork, equipment sizing, controls, electrical components, and refrigerant systems.
- Read and interpret installation instructions, equipment specifications, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Perform equipment startup, commissioning, testing, and quality-control procedures.
- Verify proper system operation and identify installation issues before completing the project.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout installation projects.
- Complete required documentation and communicate project status and issues to the Installation Manager or appropriate team member.
Indoor Air Quality & System Optimization
- Install and integrate indoor air quality products and related equipment, including filtration systems, air purification equipment, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilation components.
- Evaluate ductwork and airflow conditions as part of installation and system-performance activities.
- Support IAQ and system-optimization projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with Service, IAQ, and other departments when project needs require cross-functional support.
Customer Service & Communication
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with residential and commercial customers.
- Explain equipment operation, system functionality, maintenance considerations, and indoor air quality options in a clear and understandable manner.
- Answer customer questions regarding the installed system and help customers understand proper operation and care.
- Identify potential system-performance concerns or opportunities for additional work and communicate those opportunities to the appropriate sales or service team.
- Protect customer property and maintain a professional appearance and job-site environment.
Teamwork & Mentorship
- Work effectively with other installation technicians and project team members to complete work safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
- Assist senior technicians with training and development of less-experienced team members when requested.
- Promote safe work practices, quality workmanship, customer service, and prevention of installation-related callbacks.
- Participate in company training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of full-time hands-on HVACR experience in residential or commercial installation, service, or a closely related field.
- Working knowledge of HVAC installation practices, equipment, controls, ductwork, airflow, and related mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and understand equipment installation instructions, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the requirements for company vehicle/fleet insurance within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, vendors, and supervisors.
- Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, including lifting HVAC equipment and materials and working in attics, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, and other confined or physically demanding areas.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Willingness and ability to travel to job sites throughout rural Northern California, depending on business and project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from a post-secondary HVACR training program, preferably a program of two years or longer.
- Experience with residential and/or commercial HVAC installation.
- Experience with indoor air quality products and ventilation systems.
- Experience with system commissioning, startup, and performance testing.
- Familiarity with applicable California building, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC requirements.
- Industry certifications or manufacturer-specific training.
Physical & Working Conditions
This position is physically active and requires the ability to perform essential job duties safely. Employees may be required to:
- Lift, carry, position, and install HVAC equipment and materials.
- Work from ladders and elevated locations.
- Work in attics, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, and other confined or difficult-to-access areas.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hand and power tools.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel between job sites throughout rural Northern California.
