Scale Operator

Located in Mitchell, IN

Salary: $17.50 / hr

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Scale Operator to join our team in Mitchell, IN. This position will be responsible for processing scale tickets for trucks and walk-in customers, handling cash payments, providing excellent customer service, and completing daily computer documentation and reports. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with cash, has good computer skills, and can work accurately in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary:

• Enter and process scale tickets for incoming trucks and walk-in customers
• Pay customers and drivers for metals and scrap brought to the yard
• Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Complete computer documentation and data entry
• Run end-of-day reports and maintain accurate records
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience Required:

• Previous customer service or cash-handling experience preferred
• Experience with data entry or computer-based documentation preferred
• Previous experience in a scrap, recycling, scale house, or similar environment is a plus

Skills & Qualifications:

• Comfortable working with cash and processing payments
• Basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
• Dependable and professional
• Ability to work independently and stay organized

Location: Mitchell, IN

Pay: $17.50/hour

Position Type: Contract

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
