Sit-Down Forklift Operator

Job Summary

A client in Detroit is seeking an experienced Sit-Down Forklift Operator to join their team. This position requires working at both the Gordie Howe International Bridge and the Ambassador Bridge, assisting with the loading and unloading of freight selected for inspection by U.S. Border Patrol.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of sit-down forklift experience required.
• Ability to work at both the Gordie Howe International Bridge and the Ambassador Bridge.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
• MUST have resume outlining last 10 years of work experience ( company names/dates of employment) to be considered.
• Must have a clean background (lifetime review)
• MUST have a valid drivers license

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
• Load and unload pallets as directed by Border Patrol officers.
• Move freight to and from designated inspection areas.
• Reload inspected freight once clearance is given.
• Follow all safety procedures and site-specific regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform only the tasks authorized by Border Patrol personnel.

Important Information

• Associates must not touch or move any freight unless specifically instructed by Border Patrol.
• Freight inspections are conducted by Border Patrol officers, including the use of K-9 units and inspection personnel.
• Associates are responsible only for the loading and unloading of freight as directed.

Pay: $21
Position Type: Temp-to-Hire (this position is contracted through Express Employment Professionals)
Schedule: 8pm-4am OR 4am-noon. (need to be willing to work either shift-once on shift, can not change
