A leading developer in the renewable energy space is seeking an experienced Controller to support a growing organization. JOB SUMMARY
The Controller is responsible for managing the business unit's accounting operations, including monthly financial reporting, internal controls within a SOX-compliant environment, audit support, budgeting, accounts payable, credit and collections, loan compliance, and strategic planning. The role also identifies opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls. The Controller currently supervises and develops up to three direct reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for multi-entity consolidations and elimination of all intercompany transactions.
- Participate in the monthly financial close and reporting process in compliance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring all required transactions are recorded and financial statements are distributed to management, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the reporting process, ensuring the accuracy of month-end and annual financial reports and supporting narratives for executive leadership.
- Monitor and report project expenditures against budget.
- Assist business leadership with the annual budgeting process and collaborate with budget owners to ensure alignment between organizational plans and financial objectives.
- Monitor budget-to-actual revenue and expenditures, analyze variances, and proactively recommend corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in financial systems, accounting processes, and operational procedures, and communicate value-added recommendations to leadership.
- Continuously improve accounting systems and reporting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and safeguards across all in-scope business processes.
- Partner with treasury and finance teams regarding credit facilities, cash flow management, and covenant compliance.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned or initiated independently.
- Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- CPA designation required.
- 10+ years of U.S. GAAP accounting experience required.
- Experience within renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based industries preferred.
- Project cost accounting or project financial management experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in a Windows-based environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; ERP system experience required.
- Prior supervisory or management experience with demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to lead initiatives while also working effectively within a team environment.
