Maintenance Helper - First Shift Tuesday - Saturday:

Tuesday - Fri - 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 pm with Saturday 10 am to 6:30 p.m.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Helper assists the maintenance team in performing routine building, equipment, and facility maintenance. This position supports skilled maintenance technicians by completing basic repair tasks, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and operational. The Maintenance Helper works under direct supervision and follows all company safety procedures and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance technicians with repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment, machinery, and facility areas.
  • Help troubleshoot basic maintenance issues and report concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shops, storage areas, and work sites.
  • Transport tools, equipment, and materials to work locations.
  • Perform basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks as assigned.
  • Replace light bulbs, filters, belts, and other consumable items.
  • Assist with moving equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Remove debris and maintain safe work environments.
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules and complete assigned work orders.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • Previous maintenance, construction, janitorial, or related experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, and mechanical equipment.
  • May require occasional overtime, weekends, or emergency call-ins.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
