A local steel company is looking for a Material Handler, 2nd shift. The ideal candidate would be the backbone of our shop floor, ensuring that our fabrication teams—including press brake operators and welders—have the materials they need exactly when they need them. Physical Assistance: Act as a "second pair of hands" for machine operators when moving large or heavy oversized sheets during the fabrication process.
Key Responsibilities: Safely load and unload steel coils, plates, and structural components from trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, or side-loaders. Deliver specific raw materials to machine stations (Press Brakes, Lasers, Saws) and remove finished parts for staging. Assist in performing cycle counts, labeling incoming stock, and organizing the yard or warehouse to maximize space. Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies against packing slips; maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
Required Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years in a warehouse, manufacturing, or construction environment (steel industry experience is a major plus). Sit-down forklift is required. Experience with overhead bridge cranes is highly preferred. Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and stand/walk for 8-10 hours, in a non climate controlled environment.
Full Time Evaluation Hire Position
M-F 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
$17.00 / hour
