Painter Prep/Sandblaster

Location: Bridgeman, MI

Position Type: Full-Time, Evaluation Hire

Pay/Salary: $18.00 per hour

Shift:  6:00am - 4:30pm

          3:30pm - 2:00am

 

Responsibilities/Duties

 

• Perform paint prep duties using air-powered sandblasting equipment, grinder, needle-guns, and other powered and hand tools. Abrade surfaces of metal to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, dirt, etc. to prepare for paint application.
• Inspects item to be painted for proper welds. Removes weld spatter, over-poured refractory, excess weld, sharp edges, and burrs using a variety of tools including a wire wheel, air chisel, electric grinder, or file.

• Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and clean equipment using proper solvents and manufacturer prescribed methods.
• Operate and/or use related equipment and tools which may include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable and bench), hand tools, and a tape measure.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable, open to changes and new ideas, adaptable to new situations and challenges, and use time wisely. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• The ability to satisfactorily work alone, and willingness to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment, with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision.
• The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice inconsistencies/faults in parts, equipment, or production processes to prevent faulty products leaving the facility.
