This position is based in North Austin, TX. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to the office and project sites as needed.
Our client, a growing structural engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Structural Senior Project Manager to lead complex structural engineering projects from design through construction. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys managing projects, mentoring engineers, building client relationships, and driving business growth.
This position offers a clear path toward increased leadership responsibility and potential future departmental leadership.
Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Serve as the Engineer of Record for assigned projects.
- Lead structural engineering projects from planning through construction completion.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations.
- Oversee the preparation and production of construction documents.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering documents and calculations.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop engineers and design staff.
- Provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
- Foster collaboration and continuous professional growth within the team.
- Support workload planning and resource allocation across projects.
Client Relations & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Prepare and present fee proposals for prospective projects.
- Support business development efforts through networking, relationship building, and client outreach.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and new project opportunities.
Technical Expertise
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, owners, and design teams.
- Stay current with industry standards, building codes, and engineering best practices.
- Support innovative and efficient structural design solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- SE license is a plus.
- 10+ years of structural engineering design experience.
- Proven project management experience within consulting engineering.
- Experience managing multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of structural systems, design methodologies, and construction practices.
- Experience with:
- Revit
- RAM Structural System
- RISA
- Other structural analysis and design software
- Strong knowledge of:
- IBC
- AISC
- ACI
- Applicable industry standards and codes
