About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting CNC Operators / Machinists for a manufacturing facility in Edmonton, Alberta specializing in tubular products for the oil and gas industry.
This position is ideal for someone with experience operating CNC lathes who is comfortable working with precision machining, tooling changes, measurements, and quality inspection.
Relocation to Edmonton, Alberta is required for this position.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Operate 2-axis CNC lathes to machine API and Premium connections.
- Work with products including drill pipe, drill tools, sucker rods, casing, production tubing, and other tubular products.
- Produce approximately 60 parts per shift while maintaining quality standards.
- Operate CNC equipment such as Puma and Mori-Seiki lathes.
- Change cutting tools, inserts, and specialized tooling as required.
- Make minor tool offset adjustments to maintain proper machining.
- Load existing CNC programs and make minor adjustments as required.
- Read and independently interpret blueprints, part drawings, charts, and specifications.
- Use precision measuring equipment to inspect finished parts.
- Perform measurements using dial calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, MRP measuring tools, and thread gauges.
- Inspect and gauge threads to ensure products meet required specifications.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Support quality assurance and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Mentor and assist junior employees when required.
- Help maintain equipment and support overall shop operations.
- Complete other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience operating CNC lathes.
- Approximately 1–2 years of experience with API connections is preferred.
- Experience with API standards such as API 5CT, 5B, 5B1, 7-1 and/or 7-2 is an asset.
- Experience working with 2-axis CNC lathes.
- Experience with Puma and/or Mori-Seiki machines is an asset.
- Comfortable changing cutting tools and inserts.
- Ability to make minor tool offset and program adjustments.
- Ability to read and independently interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a production environment and meet production requirements.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Must be willing to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta.
Compensation
$27.00 – $34.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
