Spray Dry Operator (Overnight Shift)

Pay Rate: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Spray Dry Operator to join our manufacturing team on the overnight shift. In this role, you will operate and monitor equipment used in a specialized powder production process, assist in leading Material Handlers, and help ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with production, manufacturing, process operation, or machine operation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and oversee production equipment and processes.
  • Follow established procedures for equipment start-up, operation, shutdown, cleaning, and batching.
  • Prepare and monitor product batches according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collect samples and perform routine process checks to ensure product quality.
  • Record production, quality, and process data accurately.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues while working closely with Supervisors and Engineering staff.
  • Operate equipment through PLC-controlled systems.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
  • Direct and support Material Handlers during production and cleaning activities.
  • Ensure all production areas, equipment, and workspaces remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
  • Oversee full system cleanouts and product changeovers.
  • Package finished products according to quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Complete production paperwork, logs, and documentation accurately.
  • Follow all safety procedures, GMP requirements, plant rules, and OSHA regulations.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Support food safety and quality programs.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to maximize productivity, efficiency, and workplace safety.

Qualifications Preferred

While not required, the following experience is highly desirable:

  • Manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience
  • Material handling experience
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment
  • Forklift experience or certification
  • Knowledge of cGMP standards
  • Experience working in clean room environments
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, move, and palletize materials weighing up to 55 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts when required
  • Ability to work in both wet and dry production environments

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must successfully complete in-house forklift training and written certification testing before operating a forklift
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
