Supply Chain Technician

Job Summary

The Supply Chain Technician is responsible for receiving, storing, organizing, inventorying, and distributing medical supplies and materials throughout the hospital. This position ensures that clinical departments have the necessary supplies available to support safe and efficient patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming medical supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Verify quantities and items received against purchase orders or delivery documentation.
  • Organize and stock supplies in designated storage areas.
  • Pick, prepare, and deliver supply orders to hospital departments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and identify shortages or discrepancies.
  • Perform routine inventory counts and assist with inventory control activities.
  • Use computerized inventory and supply-chain systems to record transactions.
  • Rotate stock and monitor expiration dates to help prevent product waste.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe supply rooms and storage areas.
  • Respond to supply requests from nursing units and other clinical departments.
  • Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, infection-control standards, and established Supply Chain procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, clinical staff, vendors, and other departments.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate par levels for frequently used supplies.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supply Chain leadership.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred/required depending on position.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory-management systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move supplies and materials as required.
  • Previous warehouse, inventory, logistics, supply-chain, or healthcare experience is preferred.
