Scrap Yard General Laborer

Located in Mitchell, IN

Salary: $20.00 / hr

We are seeking a hardworking and physically capable Scrap Yard Laborer to join a busy scrap yard operation in Mitchell, IN. This position involves working with scrap metal, unloading customer vehicles, loading trucks, cutting large pieces of steel and iron, and performing other hands-on tasks. Previous scrap yard experience is preferred, but candidates with strong mechanical and physical skills may also be considered.

Job Summary

• Unload customer vehicles and sort or move scrap materials
• Load trucks with scrap metal
• Use a torch to cut large pieces of steel and iron into smaller, manageable pieces
• Perform torch cutting and basic welding tasks
• Handle and move heavy materials throughout the yard
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
• Follow all safety procedures when working with equipment and scrap materials

Experience Required

• Previous scrap yard experience desired
• Experience with torch cutting preferred
• Welding experience preferred
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment

Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy lifting and strenuous physical work throughout the day
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to safely handle heavy steel, iron, and scrap materials
• Basic welding and torch skills
• Strong awareness of workplace safety
• Dependable, hardworking, and willing to work as part of a team
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures

Location: Mitchell, IN
Pay: $20.00/hour
Position Type: Temporary
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
