Process Technician | Evaluation Hire

Location: Centerbrook, CT

Schedule: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm

Pay rate: $18.45/hr

The Process Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of manufacturing processes and production equipment. This position works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to ensure equipment and processes operate within established standards while maintaining product quality, safety, and production efficiency.

The Process Technician will perform equipment setup and changeovers, troubleshoot process and equipment issues, make adjustments to optimize production, assist with equipment repairs and improvements, and ensure manufacturing activities are performed in accordance with established SOPs, cGMP requirements, safety standards, and production records.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on manufacturing experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting production teams in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Safely operate, monitor, and support high-speed automated production equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Perform equipment setup, startup, shutdown, changeovers, and adjustments to ensure efficient and consistent production.
• Monitor equipment and process performance and make appropriate adjustments to maintain established operating parameters.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues and work with Maintenance and other technical personnel to identify and resolve problems.
• Assist Maintenance with equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and process-related corrective actions as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, production efficiency, product quality, and overall process performance.
• Support the implementation and validation of process and equipment improvements as directed.
• Assist with the installation, testing, and startup of new or modified equipment and processes.
• Perform in-process testing and monitor critical process parameters to ensure products meet established specifications.
• Review production processes and equipment performance to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Follow Master Compression and Packaging Records (MCPRs), SOPs, work instructions, and other approved manufacturing documentation.
• Complete production and equipment documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including equipment logs, batch records, troubleshooting documentation, and other required records.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Clean and lubricate equipment according to established procedures and schedules.
• Follow all applicable safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), SOPs, and company policies.
• Communicate process, equipment, and production issues effectively to supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, and other appropriate personnel.
• Provide technical support and guidance to Machine Operators and other production personnel when needed.
• Assist with operator training related to equipment operation, setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, and standard procedures.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse, and other departments to achieve company objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with manufacturing machinery, production equipment, or industrial processes; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process issues.
• Experience with equipment setup, changeovers, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs, work instructions, production records, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, production processes, and equipment operation.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and understand process measurements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Ability to identify problems, determine potential root causes, and take appropriate corrective action or escalate issues when necessary.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to accurately complete technical and production documentation.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Ability and willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and technologies.
• Ability to adapt to changing production requirements and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience working under cGMP requirements.
• Experience with tablet presses, packaging equipment, or other high-speed automated production equipment.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and basic mechanical repairs.
• Experience with process improvement, root-cause analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Technical training, trade school, or coursework in manufacturing, mechanical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
