Machine Operator | Evaluation Hire

Location: Clinton & Centerbrook, CT

Schedule:

  • 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm
  • 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 3:50 pm to 12:20 am

Pay rate: $17.50/hr + $1.50 shift differential for 2nd shift

The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of high-speed automated production lines in a manufacturing environment. This position will operate and set up a variety of production equipment, including tablet presses and packaging equipment, while ensuring products are manufactured according to established quality and production standards.

The Machine Operator performs equipment changeovers and adjustments, conducts in-process testing, completes required production documentation, and assists with troubleshooting and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate high-speed automated production lines and associated equipment on a daily basis.
  • Set up, operate, and perform changeovers on a variety of production equipment, including tablet presses and packaging lines.
  • Make necessary equipment adjustments during production to maintain efficient operation and product quality.
  • Monitor equipment performance and production processes, identifying and addressing issues as they arise.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and assist Maintenance personnel with machine repairs and corrective actions.
  • Clean, sanitize, and lubricate equipment according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow Master Compression and Packaging Records (MCPRs) accurately and consistently.
  • Perform required in-process testing to ensure products remain within established quality specifications and limits.
  • Take ownership of work performed and maintain accountability for the quality and accuracy of all products produced.
  • Safely transport bulk powders, packaging materials, and other production materials from the warehouse to the production area as required.
  • Complete all required production documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including batch records, equipment usage logs, and other manufacturing records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area and actively promote safe working conditions.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with established safety requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company SOPs, and other applicable procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and other departments to support production objectives.
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team and contribute to meeting company safety, quality, productivity, and operational goals.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions, SOPs, and production records.
  • Ability to accurately complete required paperwork and production documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills and the ability to perform routine production calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain concentration and focus in a fast-paced or distracting work environment.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with a cooperative and professional approach.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently with appropriate direction.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in production schedules, processes, equipment, and priorities.
  • Commitment to following safety, quality, cGMP, and company requirements.

Work Environment

This position works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires the ability to operate and monitor production equipment for extended periods. The Machine Operator must be able to maintain focus, follow detailed procedures, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team while meeting established safety, quality, and production requirements.
