Senior Accountant – Renewable Energy Industry

Reports to: Controller

A respected developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale solar and energy storage facilities is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a growing organization in a fast-paced environment. This position is based in San Antonio, Texas and offers an opportunity to perform meaningful work within a collaborative team, expand professional experience, and contribute to organizational success.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounting functions, performing financial analysis, and supporting overall financial operations. Key responsibilities include month-end close activities, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Asset accounting.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable invoices.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for monthly operational reviews.
  • Analyze month-to-month activity and budget variances, providing supporting details and recommendations.
  • Record costs related to construction-in-progress and newly acquired fixed assets; track existing fixed assets; record depreciation, amortization, and asset disposals.
  • Review and process low-volume, high-value weekly Accounts Payable transactions, including invoice processing, travel and expense report audits, and exception resolution.
  • Review and process monthly customer invoices and record cash receipts.
  • Assist with the filing of various government forms as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • Three (3+) years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with full financial reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets.
  • Previous experience working with partnerships and/or LLCs.
  • Construction and/or renewable energy industry experience preferred.
  • Big 4 accounting experience and CPA designation (or CPA-track) preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing team environment.
  • Oracle experience preferred.
