Accountant

A well-established tax and accounting firm is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team in the Morgantown, WV area. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on tax preparation experience who enjoys working directly with clients and managing multiple deadlines during tax season.  Schedule is Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm -- even during tax season!

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Review financial records, income statements, deductions, and supporting documentation.
• Assist clients with tax-related questions and provide professional guidance.
• Research tax issues and stay current on applicable federal and state tax regulations.
• Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate and organized client files and documentation.
• Communicate with clients regarding missing information, tax questions, and return status.
• Assist with accounting and other tax-related projects as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Requirements

• Previous experience preparing tax returns is required.
• Experience with individual and/or business tax returns preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Accounting, Finance, or related degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting software.
