Accountant – Morgantown, WV

A well-established tax and accounting firm is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team in Morgantown, WV. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with hands-on tax preparation experience who enjoys working directly with clients, preparing accurate tax returns, and managing multiple priorities.

The ideal candidate will have experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns, a strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations, and excellent attention to detail.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, even during tax season!

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Review financial records, income statements, deductions, and supporting tax documentation.
• Assist clients with tax-related questions and provide professional guidance.
• Research tax issues and stay current on applicable federal and state tax regulations.
• Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential client files and financial documentation.
• Communicate with clients regarding missing information, tax questions, and return status.
• Assist with accounting projects and other tax-related responsibilities as needed.
• Protect the confidentiality of sensitive client and financial information.

Accountant Requirements

• Previous tax preparation experience is required.
• Experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet important deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting software.
