Position Overview

A well-established automotive dealership is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of the dealership. This position will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and supporting dealership leadership with accurate financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations

• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes

• Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and reconciliations

• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activity

• Ensure accurate recording of vehicle sales, inventory, floor plan financing, and other dealership transactions

• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies

• Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to management

• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis as needed

• Work closely with department managers and dealership leadership

• Coordinate with outside accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners

• Identify discrepancies and implement process improvements

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax requirements

• Supervise and support accounting staff as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

• 3+ years of accounting or financial management experience

• Previous automotive dealership accounting experience is strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting

• Experience with month-end close and reconciliations

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to analyze financial information and communicate findings clearly

• Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with leadership

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who is comfortable taking ownership of the dealership's financial operations. Automotive dealership accounting experience is a major plus, but candidates with strong Controller or senior-level accounting experience in other industries may also be considered.

 

This position will support operations in the Clarksburg/Fairmont area.
