Manufacturing Shop Supervisor

Location: Benton Harbor, MI
Pay: $26–$30 per hour
Schedule: 1st Shift

 

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Shop Supervisor for a company in the Benton Harbor area. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who can oversee daily production, support employees, and help keep manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently.

 

The facility includes a mix of machining and assembly operations, so we're looking for someone with well-rounded manufacturing experience rather than someone focused exclusively on CNC machining.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support employees across machining and assembly operations

• Coordinate daily production priorities to meet schedules and customer deadlines

• Assign work and ensure employees have the tools, materials, and information needed to be successful

• Monitor workflow, productivity, quality, and safety throughout the shop

• Work with management and other departments to address production needs and changing priorities

• Train, coach, and provide day-to-day direction to employees

• Assist with troubleshooting equipment, production, and quality issues

• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production documentation

• Support CNC and other manufacturing equipment as needed

• Ensure completed work meets quality standards and specifications

• Help identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and manufacturing processes

• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

• Strong understanding of general manufacturing and production processes

• Experience with machining, CNC equipment, assembly, or similar manufacturing operations

• Ability to read blueprints and understand basic manufacturing specifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Ability to organize production priorities and adapt to changing schedules

• Effective communication and employee leadership skills

• Comfortable being hands-on and working directly with employees on the shop floor

• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a practical, hands-on manufacturing leader who knows how to keep people and production moving. The right candidate will be comfortable leading employees, solving day-to-day shop floor challenges, and working across different manufacturing processes.

 

You don't need to be an expert CNC programmer, but machining or CNC experience is a strong plus. More importantly, we're looking for someone with solid manufacturing knowledge who can lead a team, maintain quality standards, and keep production on schedule.

Pay: $26–$30 per hour, based on experience
