1st Shift Building Maintenance Technician

Location: St. Joseph, MI
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM + Overtime
Pay: $20.50-$25.00+/hour, based on experience
On-Call: Rotating weekly on-call schedule + $100 on-call bonus

 

 

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Technician for a well-established company in the St. Joseph, MI area. This is a hands-on maintenance position responsible for helping keep the facility, building systems, and equipment operating safely and efficiently.

 

The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded maintenance professional with experience in HVAC or similar systems, electrical, and plumbing who is comfortable troubleshooting problems and handling a variety of facility maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building and facility maintenance and repairs
• Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical systems and components
• Perform plumbing repairs and address leaks, fixtures, drains, and related issues
• Assist with HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
• Diagnose maintenance issues and determine appropriate repairs
• Complete preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
• Respond to facility repair needs as they arise
• Perform general mechanical and maintenance work throughout the facility
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Coordinate with outside contractors or service providers when specialized repairs are required
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow company safety procedures and report potential hazards
• Participate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule

Qualifications

• Previous building, facility, or industrial maintenance experience required
• HVAC or similar experience required
• Electrical experience required
• Plumbing experience required
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance needs
• Comfortable using common hand and power tools
• Ability to safely perform physical maintenance work throughout a facility
• Dependable attendance and strong communication skills
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
• Ability to participate in the rotating on-call schedule

Schedule & On-Call

Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, with overtime as needed.

This position participates in a shared rotating weekly on-call schedule. Employees receive a $100 bonus for their on-call week. Weekend call-ins are uncommon, but the technician must be available to respond when needed during their assigned rotation.

Compensation

$20.50-$25.00+ per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Candidates with a strong maintenance background and higher-level HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related experience may be considered above $25.00/hour.
